Today I to went to the see mangroves. There were tons of flies that kept bothering me. There was some monkeys that we met and ate a banana.
One monkey climbed up onto the boat and stole ½ a banana and ate a banana peel from Kate’s hair. The water was murky with alligators beneath it. Mangroves are a type of tree that grows in the water and above.

Old Scary Ocean
Tuesday we went to the scary, killing, BIG, blue, wavy beach. Salt water stung my eyes. I hate wearing glasses. We got caught in an undertow and some surfers brought their boards out to saved us. That’s whys I am scared of the water and because of the mean things in it like rocks and seaweed. I rode the waves up and down like a boat.
Sunday we toured Manuel Antonio National Park. We had a tour guide so we were able to see many things like: monkeys, butterflys, bamboo.

#1 Day in Costa Rica
Today we woke up at 5:45 and left the hotel at 6. Then we took a taxi looking thing to the airport. then 2 hour wait aty the air port. then 1hour and 5min plane ride. Then we got off the airplane. Then through sercuity and to a AVIS. they drove us to our car. then it was a 3 and a half hour dirve to our home. the end

1. Where did you visit and where is it located?
We went to Roatan, Honduras, which is in Central America. Roatan is an island 33 miles off the Atlantic coast. The island of Roatan is 49 sq. miles area in size. Here the languages spoken are English, Spanish,and Garifuna.
2. How much rainfall occurs annually?
There is different amount of rainfall each year on Roatan but it averages out to 220 mm.
3. Are there distinct seasons? Which season was it when you where there?
There is a hurricane season, rainy season and a dry season. The rainy season for the north Caribbean coast of Honduras, including the Bay Islands of Roatan, Utila and Guanaja, runs from October to February. Rainy season does mean rainy season. It can rain for weeks on end, virtually non-stop, or it can also be beautiful during those months but this is a rarity. We had lots of rain when we were here.
4. What was the average temperature when you were there? What is it on an annual basis?
The temperature is normally around 80 – 85°F (26 to 30 degrees Celsius) year round. It was close to this temperature while we were here.
5. Ethnic Groups - does the community look homogenous or does it have lots of diversity?
No it doesn’t look homogenous. There are native people (Spanish), American, Canadian and Europeans.
6. How many people live in the region and country?
70 000 people live on the island on Roatan, while Honduras has a total population of 6,000,000.
7. Do most people live in the rural and small towns or in big cities?
In Roatan there are no big cities, only small towns. As you drive down the roads, you see a lot of houses along the way. This means that a lot of people on the island live in the rural.
8. What is average Income?
The average income in Honduras is $1000 U.S.A. per capita per year and 65% of the people live below the poverty line.
9. What does a typical house of a local person look like?
A typical house is small and is built on stilts because of sand flies and the chance of flooding..
10. Wealth Distribution - Do you see examples of very rich and very poor people, or does it look like most people have the same standard of living?
There are some rich people and many poor people. The native people are poor and outsiders seem to have the wealth.
11. Is the area known for a specific type of art or craft?
They sell lots of pottery, jewelry, ponchos and hammocks so I think those are the specific type of art or craft that they are known for.
12. What kind of music do you hear playing?
I hear Mexican (Spanish) style of music playing mainly.
13. What sports do the kids play?
I see them playing soccer or selling items on the street for money.
14. Television - did they have satellite with lots of choice or not?
There is not as much choice as home but some I can deal with it.
Some channels like CNN and Cartoon Network are exactly what we have in Canada. They only have the U.S. Channels.
15. How does the food compare to Canada - variety, common staples, etc?
Their staples are chicken, rice, beans, fish, tortilla and shrimp, which you can all find in Canada. There is less red meat and fresh vegetables and more bad food that have past their expiry dates.
16. What kind of Meat do you see in the grocery stores?
You will not find as much selection. There were only are 5 or 6 types of cold cuts and most of the meat frozen instead of being fresh.
17. Local specialties - what type of food are they known for?
In Roatan you can get almost anything. You can get lots of food including fish, iguana, coconut and deep-fried plantains. Our guide in Gumbalimba Park said the best dish on the island was iguana..
18. What new food did you try that you never had before?
I tried a coconut steamer, a whole king crab and deep-fried plantains.
19. Does Dad like the wine in the country or does he drink something else?
He doesn’t like the wine. There was not much choice. In most restaurants the wine is poor quality. I think that all wine tastes bad.
20. Currency name – do they use also use U.S. Dollars?
Their currency is Lempira but they also use the U.S. dollar. Some businesses prefer the US dollar instead of the Lempira.
21. What is Conversion to U.S.?
It is 19 Lempira to one US dollar, but some stores use 20 Lempira to the U.S. Dollar.
22. How much does it cost to buy fish & chips?
We paid 150 Lempira or $ 9.37 Canadian for a fish and chip dinner similar to Archie’s in London
23. What are Primary industries?
Honduras’s primary industries are:
· Mining- silver, lead, and zinc.
· Manufacturing
· Tourism - Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in Honduras.
· Financial Services
24. Americanization - do you see examples of things from home?
Our condo and rental vehicle was just like you would rent anywhere in North America. The pop was Coke, Sprite and Fanta. TV was all American channels not one channel was from Roatan.
25. Are there any unique animals, birds and or marine life that you saw?
I saw some monkeys but they were imported. There were also some macaws, iguanas, turtles, and geckos. In the ocean we saw looks of tropical fish.
26. Do you see any efforts to preserve the natural wildlife areas?
There are two Marine Park on Roatan. You can’t leave anything in or take anything from the ocean where the Marine Parks are.
27. What was the favorite activity you did on this part of the trip?
I enjoyed seeing and playing with the monkeys at Gumbalimba Park.
28. What is the main Language spoken?
The main language spoken is Spanish, but English is also used a lot in Roatan.

Bored!
I am bored and it is 2:23 pm in the afternoon. I will try to type to u about what happened on Sunday. We went to a restaurant called The Hole in the Wall because it is on the other side of the island and u have to take a boat to get to it. They gave us a tour of the mangroves where the pirates would cut through and have a safe passage way to sail. The restaurant was a dock with a roof and a geocache. So bye for now

hole in the wall
Today we went to this Resturat called Hole in the wall. We found a geocache there. The restaurant is on the other side of the island :'( a long car ride. my sister was complaing all the way there gave me a headecand. then we took a 15 Mimunte boat ride. then it wasnt a great restaurant. The End.

Have Have u ever felt that u had a monkey on your back? Well I have today just watch the video and u will see I’m telling the truth. If I put up a video plz comment on it. I like comments.
It has been rainy for the last week or so :’(. The water is murky so u can’t see under the water. Even the dive boats aren’t going out. I am terrified of the coral any way.
The minimum wage for jobs in Honduras is 6 U.S. Dollars a day but the companies can't even afford that. That’s crazy. :0

Yesterday we drove to an iguana farm because my dad forced us to go. The harmless iguanas, some of which were four feet long, petrified my mom. Kate and I had a thrilling
time feeding the iguanas some almost rotten cabbage. At the farm they have more than 2700 iguanas roaming free. One iguana that was up in a tree had a pee, just missing my mom. That freaked her out! (hee hee hee). It turned out to be a great day. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) : ) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
There were big scary turkey that puffed up to make him look scary and it worked and he was go to eat us.
There was small distressful monkey that were in small cages with peoples litter in there. Oh miserable monkeys, oh miserable monkeys. They did not need them there.
We saw barracudas that were big. There was hand railing so someone could fall in and be eaten by the barracudas.

A Trip TO Gambalimba Park
Friday, Jan 9thToday I went to the Gambalimba Park where we went on 18 zip lines. Then we went to see monkeys and one special monkey jumped on my sister’s head and took off her hat. My sister was sad cause the monkey took off her hair band and ran away, broke it and tried to eat it. See never saw her hair band again J. yay what a happy day. Then we went to see the macaws and it was very funny cause they used their beaks to walk against the chain. That is all we did today.

Snorkling in Rotan
Today I went snorkeling at in the ocean. The salt water kept getting in my eyes and it was infuriating, it stung. So I just resigned at the end. With a bit of luck next time will just it be easier. Today the position we went to was called The Bite and last time it was called Bikini Bottom.
But a pair of ago we drove in a “Cheech & Chong” van from the 70’s. It looked approximate to a petite bus. Now we have a long, Mazda Four Door Truck, I like riding in the back of it cause the road is very potholed with just sand & holes, no cement. “It is like a amusement park ride!” says my sister. Ok Bye.
